About Our Firm

Risk managers, claims professionals and brokers know that achieving successful results in workers’ compensation matters comes from a team effort. Good defense counsel understands that as well.

At Carpenter, McCadden and Lane, LLP, our founding partners established the firm on this simple principle: By working together with our clients, we achieve optimal results.

To fulfill our firm’s mission of success through teaming with self-insureds and the insurance industry, we focus on the following:

ACCESSIBILITY

We pride ourselves on constant accessibility to our clients. Whether at the office or on vacation through our Blackberries or cell phones, our attorneys are available to answer your questions as they arise at each critical stage of the workers’ compensation process. We pride ourselves on hiring personable, approachable attorneys who encourage client participation in all stages of litigation.

PRIORITY

Our firm was founded as a workers’ compensation defense firm. Unlike some law firms where workers’ compensation is considered the ugly step child of civil litigation, at CML, serving the needs of businesses and the insurance industry in workers’ compensation matters is our one and only priority.

CREATIVITY

At CML, we pride ourselves on using creativity to undermine the credibility of claimants. Subpoena power can be used beyond procuring medical records and our attorneys have successfully used that power to discredit claimants who are abusing the system.

COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS

There is a time in each case where the Defendant has its best settlement leverage. At CML, we inform our clients of the risks and benefits of continued litigation at each stage of litigation, so that those claims that will be settled can be settled for the lowest dollar amount.

CLIENT-DRIVEN SERVICE

At CML, our main focus is on our clients and their needs, not on opening or perpetuating files. We assist our clients through each and every stage of the workers’ compensation process from establishing panel physicians to determining creative ways to close out “old dog” files.

EXPERIENCE

The founding partners of Carpenter, McCadden & Lane, LLP have nearly 75 years of collective experience defending workers’ compensation matters throughout the entire state of Pennsylvania. All four founding partners have experience speaking at numerous seminars and have been featured speakers at events such as the 2006 Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Conference, the Pennsylvania Self-Insurers Association seminars, and the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Additionally, the founding members regularly hold seminars throughout the state and are willing to customize individual programs for client-specific needs.

AGGRESSIVE CASE HANDLING

It is always better to be proactive than reactive when handling a claim and this is how we litigate cases at CML. By being aggressive and “on top of the file” we reduce our clients’ exposure and save them money in both benefits paid and litigation costs.

RESULTS

The attorneys at CML “get the job done.” CML attorneys are cognizant that from a claims perspective the only good workers’ compensation file is a closed file. Our goal in each case is to expeditiously reach the desired result without costly “fluff.”
